Daily MelWear: Leggy Leopard

Considering I’m not even five feet tall, I’m pretty sure the word “leggy” has never been associated with me.

But I do love these leopard print tights. And the fact that it’s cool enough for me to wear them today.

Daily MelWear: Packing

Some of you may know that my family and I are going on a cruise soon. Very soon. We leave SUNDAY! The cruise is to celebrate my parents’ 40th anniversary, so there is a big group of us going (about 20-30 people, family and friends).

 

 

 

 

 

 

We decided that on one night for a really nice family picture, we’re all going to coordinate in pink and gray. My daughter’s dress is gray leopard print with a baby pink sash. SO flipping cute. I’ll see if I can post a picture of my dress when we get back, but it’s black and gray and I have a pink cardigan.

Anyway – so I know I need a couple of formal dresses for dinners, bathing suit, warm stuff for night time, comfy dresses. I don’t really own any shorts or capris or anything and hopefully that won’t be an issue.

Is there anything you can think of that I should definitely bring? Do you have any packing tips for me? I really don’t travel all that often so I’m not all that good at this.

And while we were shopping for the pink cardigan that I bought, I found this blazer too at Charming Charlie. I didn’t even know we had one of those in Orlando but we DO and that makes me HAPPY.

Nope, that’s not a typo. If you haven’t heard of Movember, click here to read about it. Essentially it’s creating awareness about men’s health, prostate cancer and other issues. Similar to how the boys help us raise awareness for breast cancer in October, now it’s our turn to help raise awareness for the boys in November.

As part of the Movember movement, my daughter’s dad has started a team called the Movember Moustache Mob. Click here to check out his page and to donate. The funds raised in the US support prostate cancer and testicular cancer initiatives. As one way for us to show support, my daughter and I bought matching moustache necklaces – but since I don’t post pictures of her publicly, all you get is a picture of me. Sorry.

And to kick it off, pattern mixing today! Well…I don’t know, do double polka dots count as pattern mixing? I submit they do, in which case, I win. So yay.

Daily MelWear: Come Together

Sometimes, despite our best efforts, our outfits lack the necessary components to make us feel our best and we just feel like crap instead.

Other times, we throw things on and they just magically come together. This is one of those outfits. I’m not sure if it’s the skirt or the cardigan or what, but I just feel polished and put-together in this.

 

 

 

 

 

I think it’s the fit and length of the skirt (short ones are really uncomfortable for me) and how the sleeves of the cardigan and blouse work together. The length of the cardigan works well for me too, it hits at just the right spot on my torso.

I know it’s going to be almost 80 degrees again today, but I’m still doing tights. The two days of 60 degree weather just got me in the spirit and I can’t give it up. Scarves are next!

By the way, is it just me or has Halloween candy gone a little downhill? We barely got any chocolate at all last night. I  My daughter needs her Reese’s cups, people!

Daily MelWear: Boo Who?

My daughter loves that knock-knock joke. I’ve heard it a few too many times. Figured it was appropriate for today being Halloween and all.

And my daughter is going as a BRIDE. Interesting, no? But hey, that’s what she wanted, so that’s what she’ll get.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

My goal was to dress in something comfortable enough to walk around with her while she’s trick-or-treating, but warm too. I think I missed the mark on this one. I don’t think the dress is all that flattering (and apparently way too short – does my dryer like to eat the hems off dresses or something?!), and the coat, while adorable, isn’t really all that warm.

So when I leave work, I’ll probably throw on jeans and a sweater and be done.

Daily MelWear: New Boots!

Does anyone else have issues finding boots that fit over your calves? I don’t know if mine are just particularly large or what, but I have the WORST time finding boots. These I found by chance, but I’ve been wanting some boots this color so I’m beyond excited about them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now I just need to find some black ones, too. And gray. And maybe some to replace my black ones and brown ones with heels.

I like boots.

Daily MelWear: Fall Leopard

I realized when I looked back at these photos that I should’ve worn my pink sweater to keep up with BBCA. The thought didn’t even cross my mind. Apparently I’ve had too much other stuff to think about this weekend.

Today wasn’t supposed to be quite so chilly, I thought the high was around 80 or something. However, when I watched the news, it said it would really only get up to the upper 60s and maybe to 70ish.

Yeah that’s COLD to this Florida girl. But that means I get to LAYER!

I spent probably a full 10 minutes looking in my drawer of tights to find any that were acceptable. Granted, these are nothing special at all, but they work.

Have I mentioned lately that leopard print makes me happy?

Daily MelWear: BBCA Day 25

I think I’m going through withdrawals.

Does anyone remember the great Computer Debacle of 2011? That week or two when I was without a computer at home because my hard drive crashed and I had to get a new one?

Well guess what?! The new one crashed too!!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the grand scheme of things, a week without my computer (because they had to “send it out” for some reason) really isn’t very long at all. But I do miss my computer. And I won’t have it all weekend.

That’s so sad. This better not be a new annual tradition.

But hey – stripes today!

Daily MelWear: BBCA Day 24

I know what you’re thinking: “THAT dress again?!”

Yes, people. This dress again.

And while I normally pair it with red accents, since this is the month of BBCA, I went with pink. Clearly.

I am quite the master of stating the obvious, aren’t I?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

There isn’t much happening at work today so I decided to go a little more casual with the flats, especially because this dress is shorter too. Is it just me or does it seem like dresses shrink shorter a lot? They still fit everywhere else, but they get shorter. And I know I’m not getting taller…

You’d think as a short chick I wouldn’t have a problem with things being too short, but I do. Yes, I do.

Perhaps I’m a prude. Or I just don’t like my legs all that much. Either way.
